Years behind the decks:
I bought my first set-up in late summer of 1999. I was a hardcore bedroom DJ until 2005. So 12 years total, but only 6 years for real.

What was the first record you purchased:
I purchased two records at once actually, from Deep Fix records in January of 2000. A jungle record, “Two Techniques” by Lemon D, and a techno double-pack, The Past Forward EP by The Advent. Both of which are still some of my favorite tunes, and still get rinsed out sometimes!

What type of platform do you prefer to perform on (ie. Decks, CDs, Serato, Traktor):
Vinyl is by far my #1 choice! 2nd choice is analogue gear. I like anything that makes me feel like I’m piloting a space-ship.

What drew you to the type of dance music that you play:
The sub bass that fills your chest, the intricate rhythm patterns that move your feet, but most powerful is the vibe created by hundreds of people sweatin it out on a grimey dance-floor to a properly programmed set.

Favorite record label:
Super tough question… The stuff I’m really into now is coming from M>O>S Recordings, Delsin, Exit, Nonplus, Hoya:Hoya, All City, and Monkeytown. As far as more classic stuff, I love everything on Primate, Primevil, Tresor, and the like. I’m also a fan of Peppermint Jam, Dance Mania, and Nervous, for my House needs. I also love Jungle and DnB from Moving Shadow, Good Looking Records, Metalheadz, Alphacut, Fokuz, and Ingredients. My favorite label of all time is Kickin Records.

Best place to find new music:
My brain. Live Shows. Soundcloud.

Favorite live act / DJ to see perform:
Another super tough question. Inner City at DEMF in 2010 was one of the greatest moments in my life. Ben Klock and Marcel Dettman have played my favorite Vinyl DJ sets that I have seen. Paul Birken had the sickest live P.A. Techno set I’ve seen. I’m also a huge fan of turntablism, and when I saw QBert live, it made me tear up, I felt like I had been “Saved”

Do you produce, if so, where can your original productions be heard:
Oh hells to the yeah! http://soundcloud.com/zsonic I’m currently working on a techno/house dj mix that is mostly my original tunes, but will feature some of my friends tracks as well. Stay tuned!

Besides music, what else do you collect, if anything:
uh….. debt…. from buying records and gear. I actually stopped collecting other things so I could collect more music. I still have most of my comic collection, though. I got the whole first year of Alpha Flight! Including the extra phat first anniversary issue. I also collect party/event flyers. Oh and concert ticket stubs.

When is the best time to listen to dance music:
Right now.

What do you order at the bar:
IPA, Gin+Tonic(space juice), or Vodka Tonic. Dirty Martini’s. If I’m feeling fruity, Orange Vodka and Cranberry.
