In the beginning there was Jack.. and Jack had a groove.

And then in Kansas City there was THC, a trifecta of Kansas City DJs consisting of Pat Nice, DJ True and Jason Kidd. It would be impossible to draw an accurate time line of the KC’s dance music history with out including these local legends.

Jason Kidd has been on the down low for a few years now, doing as we all do.. settling in with his family and raising his son. KCTDC ran into Jason at one of the Superb! events held monthly at The Union of Westport and we got to talking about old days and where house music has moved to in KC, and of course we had to get some words and a mix for our site. Check the jump to find a new mix along with classic DJ Kidd and THC mixes from back in the day.

While digging through an old box we found a cd book stacked full of classic demos from local Kansas City DJs, some.. quiet embarrassing I’ll admit, but in the mix there were a few diamonds. Over the next few months we at KCT will be uploading and sharing some of these classic mixes so that the new generation can have a glimpse at what the word on the street used to be. While we are at it we are also sitting down with the artist to catch up and hear what they are up to now and also to here their thoughts on the music that we’ve found that they have no doubt long forgot about.

The first CD that we found was Sarahplease’s Moods for Moderns. Sarah Giboney better known as Sarahplease has been a long time friend of the KCTDC camp. Always one of the first to the dance floor and usually one of the last to leave, she has been a fixture on the KC dance music scene for over a decade. Over the past few years you have been able to catch her doing guest spots around town at venues like The Union, Karma, and other dance music venues.
